1988-1995, First Steps

DC (Double Cage) sprag freewheels took its roots in one of the firms of promoter family in 1988. It became the very first successful sprag freewheel development in India, marking a significant milestone in indigenising the product. Over the following years, the product gained appreciation not only in the domestic market but also in Western Europe. We expanded the program with new sizes and continued to sell these freewheels for general industrial machinery both in India and abroad.
However, what truly left a lasting legacy was the simplified nomenclature we devised. Previously, global corporations named the product using internal development serial numbers, which general market non-OEM customers found incomprehensible in their routine purchasing and operations activities.
We introduced a new naming convention for DC freewheel models, based on the corresponding mating inner race diameter and width. For example, DC-10000 A indicates a mating inner race diameter of 100 mm and a standard width designated as A, B, C, etc.
Customers quickly began to recall the sizes easily. Even after many decades, the same naming scheme we initiated in 1988 is still used by manufacturers worldwide who later developed this product. In essence, we set the standard by simplifying the nomenclature of this product.
